Family, friendship and a beautifully written slow burn love all wrapped in a story tied artfully with a bow of clever writing. A happy clean mature book.
The first book I have finished so quickly in such a long time. I was so surprised at how much it kept me engaged. I just ploughed through it so comfortably and happily. I absolutely did not want it to end. The whole of it was far too lovely. Too too lovely.
Here are the things to note for anyone thinking about diving in;
Listening to this book adds so much more enjoyment to an already great story. Stevie Zimmerman deserves a raise from the author. Our girl can tell a story!!! She was just the perfect icing on the cake. Truly applaud her talent.
A sequel to book 1. Though one could comfortably get by without doing this, I personally recommend that book 1 be read first because it just made my heart happy to see the lives of the mains in that story continue in this installment even though now they were supporting characters. It is also worth noting that book 1 shines a brighter light on the female main character's home life, which is an important plot device in this story.
The author does an amazing job at world building. The ton just comes alive and moves like a beautifully conducted orchestra. The author went in! And she deserves high praise for crafting something so intricate and entertaining without it developing a single plot hole from start to finish. She kept a tight well run ship and brought it safely to port.
The romance was so entertaining. The slow burn was handled steadily and masterfully!! And you feel it every step of the way. I kept smiling and laughing and swooning!
Though there are kisses at the end of the story, this is a 99.9% clean romance. The 0.1% is for the kisses. Thankfully there are no forays into private intimate affairs that would snatch away the propriety of a good Regency era novel.
Highly recommend this for people who enjoy watching love bud as it navigates societal norms and expectations. This book would be in great company among Jane Austen greats. She would definitely allow it.
