Immersing, sweet, wonderfully paced slow burn romance.

I was previously not much of a Christmas story reader but this book has changed my mind beautifully.

A warm story of love family and friendship set in 19th century England is just what this book is and it is as lovely as it sounds.

Points to note:

Two leads perspective which means you get properly immersed into the development of their love. This makes it so believable and more memorable.

The narrator. She made this 6 stars out of the five it already was! I kept smiling listening to her. She has altogether such a storyteller way of reading the book that you just want to snuggle up in something cozy and let her voice carry you away to 19th century England never wishing to leave. She is spectacular!

The writing is so good you feel like the people in the story are truly real people! And so you can't help but share in their joy when good things happen to them, feel second hand embarrassment when they are in awkward situations hahaha, and have aches in your heart when they experience pain. This is the 4th book I'm reading from this author. There is clearly a reason why I keep coming back!:)

A lot of characters from previous stories in this series are supporting characters in this one and for readers who have followed those stories it must be a treat. I however have not read all the others in the series but I was very comfortable listening to this and didn't once feel like I was missing anything.

That said though, the colorful writing of even said secondary characters was so well done in this that it made me intrigued about what their dedicated tales were like. So you best believe I have made a mental note to read those as well. The writing in this is just so lovely that I can't help looking forward to it.

The heat level is "clean" by my personal standards. No bedroom scenes. A very very tastefully done romance. So beautiful.

For me personally when it comes to romance reads, it is usually more about how people care for and treat each other as they get to know each other than their physical attraction. Because attraction is pretty commonplace! But a strong bond of love and care? That is the bones of the matter. And so what gets me hype and happy is the journey of watching love grow. And darlings the journey was very well handled in this one. So very well. Dwell on that and you will likely love every second you spend on this book.

So tasteful, so pretty, so charming, so warming. My heart is full.
