I know all to well how crippling and destructive anxiety can be. So it is important to catch and snuff out such thoughts before they sink in and steal our joy and peace. Here are the 4 things I do that have helped me when anxious thoughts arose.

Singing songs that make my heart glad - it may sound silly and simple but sometimes it's the simple things that have an unexpected impact. When you sing and dance, you don't have time to be lost in negative thoughts. Your mind is so focused on having a good time that it become hard to find an opening for worry too. One of my friends told me about an experience he had--- * Cue the story time * He had been wrestling with worry over how things were going with his career and life goals. He felt as though things were not going as he had planned and hoped, and this was eating away at him. The anxiety kept gnawing away at him for about a week. Then one day, during this week of anxious struggle, while he was sleeping he suddenly woke up at around 2 in the morning. A song then suddenly popped into his mind. He got up, put the song on and listened. As he was listening, peace began to envelope him. He said every time later on he would listen to that song and it would have the same effect. Each time the song would calm his heart ang give him reprieve. Amazing right? So don't just take it from me my love. There's clearly healing to be found in good positive music. And the relief could come as easily as pressing play. Here's the song my friend listened to. And for more positive songs that lift my spirits and help me out, tap here.

Giving my worries to God - for me committing what is concerning me to God cuts the anxiety off at the knees and crumbles it to dust! Because one, I know God can actually do something about what is causing my mind to be troubled. And two, it is always good for the heart to share your concerns with someone who cares. And luckily for us, God does both beautifully. He makes you feel at ease with the comfort and peace He gives, and you also walk away with the assurance that whatever is causing you to worry will be taken care of. If that isn't a winning life hack then I don't know what is.

Looking back on times that gave me so much joy - a trip down happy memory lane helps because it causes me to find comfort in the joy of days past. While doing that, my mind is too occupied being happy to have time ---or willingness really haha, to entertain anxious disruptive thoughts.

Doing something I love - for me literally just the other day this was cooking a delicious meal for myself while listening and singing along to my happy playlist as mentioned above. Something else I love to do is create content and products that uplift others. I actually created a line of clothes and totes specifically to remind us that anxiety has no power over us. Tap here to have a look at the clothes and here for the tote bag. While doing something I love, my focus shifts from the noise in my mind to the joy of taking part in a fun activity.

What is the thing that you love to do that just makes your heart sing? Please do more of that.
